Nadia Montenegro Finally Gets Vindication After Senate Marij*ana Accusation
NADIA MONTENEGRO – After months of controversy and speculation, Nadia Montenegro is now seeing justice take shape as authorities approved the filing of a case against the person who accused her.
Actress and former Senate staff member Nadia Montenegro has received what her lawyer described as an early gift ahead of International Women’s Day after prosecutors approved the filing of charges against the person who accused her of using marij*ana inside the Senate in 2025.
In a Facebook post, lawyer Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque shared the development, saying the resolution issued by the Department of Justice through the Office of the City Prosecutor in Pasay City came just before the global celebration honoring women on Sunday, March 8.

According to the resolution, prosecutors approved the filing of information in court for the charges of unjust vexation and violation of Section 16(c) of Republic Act No. 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act, against the respondent who reported the incident.
The complaint stemmed from an alleged incident on August 12, 2025, at the Senate building in Pasay City. Montenegro was reportedly accused of using marij*ana inside the comfort room designated for persons with disabilities after someone claimed to have smelled an “unusual odor” in the restroom shortly after the actress used the facility.
At that time, Montenegro was serving as Political Affairs Officer to Robin Padilla. She immediately showed the contents of her bag and pockets to security personnel, and the only item found was a vape.
Although she was advised to take a leave of absence, Montenegro eventually resigned from her position. She clarified that the decision was not an admission of guilt but a move to prevent further controversy from affecting Padilla’s office.
“My decision to resign should not be misconstrued as an admission of guilt—it is not. Rather, it is a demonstration of my deep respect for the Senate and Senator Padilla’s office, so that this issue does not cause further distraction or harm,” she said at the time.
“To prevent this baseless issue from growing any further, I would rather remove myself from the spotlight and allow the Senate to focus on its important work,” she added.

According to her lawyer, the resolution indicated that the respondent allegedly knew Montenegro was not using marij*ana but still prepared an incident report.
The report later became the basis for the spread of what was described as false information against the actress last year, which reportedly caused significant harm not only to Montenegro but also to her family.
“This is a testament that albeit you are a woman, you can fight so that YOUR TRUTH can be heard. I know what you have gone through and I am very happy to be your lawyer so that this vindication will be given and finally be given to you,” Atty. Maggie said.

Dated March 2, 2026, the prosecutors’ resolution recommended filing the case in court after reviewing the evidence and statements submitted by both sides.
With the filing of charges, the legal process now moves to the next stage as the case is set to be heard before the court.
