According to Escudero, the bank secrecy laws now prevent illegal activities unlike their purpose before which was for savings and economic growth of the government officials. Based on the report, he also claimed that the Philippines is the last country with full secrecy.

“The laws may have served their purpose in the past, but their rigidity has enabled corruption to thrive under the guise of confidentiality. We are the last country standing in preserving absolute secrecy. That distinction doesn’t protect democracy but rather, it undermines it,” he said.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ administration is allegedly all about politics. According to her, helping the Filipino people is supposedly not in the priorities of the current admin.
