PAGASA Says ITCZ to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that ITCZ will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (May 22, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The intertropical convergence zone will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the Intertropical Convergence Zone will be affecting Mindanao while the easterlies will be affecting the rest of the country.

“ITCZ refers to the line where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet. Thus, heavy rains are still expected to persist,” Estareja said.
The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao.
“Winds from the east section of the country have a high level of moisture that is expected to bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms,” Estareja explained.

Fair weather with a chance of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms is expected in Visayas from morning to evening.
The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
However, hot and fair-weather conditions will be experienced in Northern and Central Luzon in the morning and noon.
The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible floods or landslides occurring during severe thunderstorms.
Estareja reported that no typhoons or low-pressure areas are being monitored within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised over any parts of the country.
