DJ Jhai Ho was asked about the Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla breakup issue
TV and radio personality DJ Jhai Ho has finally spoken up after finding himself at the center of controversy amidst the highly publicized breakup of Asia’s Superstar Kathryn Bernardo and Supreme Idol Daniel Padilla.
Kathryn and Daniel’s separation created a buzz in the entertainment industry. For a little more than a decade, the two Kapamilya stars, collectively known as “KathNiel,” had done several hit projects.
IN 2023, their breakup caught the attention of the online community, and several names were dragged into the issue, and one of them was DJ Jhai Ho.
It will be recalled that Jhai Ho defended Daniel against bashers, as well as Kapamilya actress Gillian Vicencio, who had been dragged into the issue.
When DJ Jhai Ho appeared on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” last Tuesday, September 8, he clarified that while both Kathryn and Daniel are his friends, he felt compelled to stand up for Daniel because the latter was completely devastated at the time.
He recounted that shortly after the breakup became public, he posted a series of messages on X defending Daniel against the criticism he was receiving.
As a result, he was reportedly labeled an “enabler” because of his statements. However, Jhai Ho insisted that he did not speak up to take Daniel’s side against Kathryn. He stressed that what he did was out of friendship.
“Both kaibigan ko po si Daniel and Kathryn, pero that time kasi dapang-dapa na si Daniel, everything with the bashing. Ang paniniwala ko po kasi dapat silang dalawa yung may karapatan magsalita para i-clear out yung issues,” Jhai Ho said.
He also clarified that he had no intention of attacking Kathryn or questioning her side of the story. His only reason for speaking up was to address the allegations against Daniel, which he believed were not true.
Due to his involvement in the controversy, Jhai Ho revealed that management spoke to him and asked for an explanation regarding his role in the issue. Despite the controversy, he stated that he remains on good terms with both Daniel and Kathryn.
DJ Jhai Ho also shared an instance where he ran into Kathryn Bernardo in an elevator while she was promoting “Hello, Love, Again” alongside Kapuso star Alden Richards.
He admitted that he wondered if their encounter would be awkward after the issue, but his apprehension vanished the moment Kathryn stepped into the elevator.
“Pagpasok niya po nagyakapan kami. Okay po kami,” DJ Jhai Ho said.
