Suspect Faces Robbery and Homicide Attempt Charges After Attack on Tricycle Driver
A suspect is set to face charges of robbery with frustrated homicide following an incident where a tricycle driver was attacked and robbed in Bacolod City.
Robbery is a serious crime where someone takes money or property from another person using force, threats, or intimidation. Unlike theft, robbery involves direct interaction with the victim and often includes violence or the fear of harm.
The crime typically happens when the suspect takes something valuable directly from the victim or while they are nearby. What makes it more severe is the use of force or threats to make the victim comply.

Robbery doesn’t just cause financial loss; it also puts the victim’s safety and peace of mind at risk, making it a particularly harmful offense.
On January 27, 2025 (Monday), a male suspect reportedly assaulted a tricycle driver along the Economic Highway in Hacienda Gonzaga, Barangay Mansilingan around 2:30 PM.
According to Police Captain Dax Santillan, the suspect, known as “Almer,” is a 37-year-old married man and a resident of Purok Tumpok in the same area. Reports revealed that Almer struck the tricycle driver with a rock, leaving him injured, and stole the victim’s tricycle.

Fortunately, the stolen tricycle was quickly recovered by the Bago City police after Almer’s arrest. The suspect was handed over to the Bacolod City police station and is expected to face formal charges on Tuesday (January 28).
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital due to a head injury caused by the attack. Authorities continue to monitor his condition while ensuring justice is served for the heinous crime.
The incident shows the importance of vigilance and quick action by law enforcement to ensure public safety and justice for the victims of such crimes.
