PAGASA: Ofel Intensifies Into Super Typhoon, Signal No. 5 Up in Cagayan

PAGASA Releases Update on Typhoon Ofel

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE ā€“ The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Ofel intensified into a super typhoon and raised wind signal no. 5 over parts of Cagayan province.

On Thursday (November 14, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Ofel will affect the countryā€™s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Ofel was last located 215 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela, packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 205 kph.

Ofel is expected to move northwestward over the Philippine Sea before making landfall along the eastern coast of Cagayan or northern Isabela this afternoon. It will pass over the Babuyan Channel while making another landfall on the Babuyan Islands.

ā€œOfel will then emerge over Babuyan Channel by Thursday night while making another landfall or passing close to Babuyan Islands,ā€ PAGASA said.

The weather disturbance will cross the waters west of Batanes by Friday (November 15, 2024) and will turn northeastward starting Saturday (November 16).

Meanwhile, the weather agency has raised a gale warning over the northern and eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon.
