PCSO Recognizes PhilHealth’s Role in Helping Poor Filipinos w/ Medical Needs

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or more popularly known as PhilHealth is the state-run health insurer to which millions of Filipinos depend on. Truth be told that the PhilHealth monthly premium is what most Filipinos could afford in terms of health insurance.

PCSO was recently recognized again as one of the top-performing GOCC or government-owned and controlled corporations in the Philippines. Pres. Bongbong Marcos was visibly proud of the performance of the state entity.

Recently, PCSO also approved making additional contribution to PhilHealth. Based on PhilStar, the state-run entity is set to make an additional contribution of P1.6 billion contribution to PhilHealth bringing its total contribution for this year to P3.85 billion.

The total contribution of the PCSO to the state-run health insurer is expected to hit P13.98 billion by the end of 2026 as per the report. This year is its highest contribution on record.

“Behind these figures are Filipino families who depend on PhilHealth when a loved one is hospitalized or needs medical treatment,” PCSO general manager Mel Robles said.

Based on the report, under the Universal Health Care Act, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office is mandated to allocate 40% of its next charity fund to finance the expansion of the health packages offered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.
