Erstwhile Tropical Storm Kristine with the international name Trami developed into a severe tropical storm on Wednesday afternoon. This prompted the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number 3.
