Kuya Kim Atienza reacts to claims that youth today are weak.
Famous host Kuya Kim Atienza recalls the time he called out Senator Robin Padilla for saying this about the youth nowadays.
“Kids nowadays, sadly, please don’t get mad at me — oh, I’m sure many of you will get upset — but forgive me… you are weak,” Senator Robin Padilla said previously about the youth of today during a discussion on various measures regarding children’s safety on social media.

Kuya Kim Atienza, who just lost Emman at that time due to mental health struggles, reacted to this and called out the senator. He emphasized that mental health and the struggles of young people should not be dismissed because depression is real and needs understanding, not judgment.
Recalling this time, Kuya Kim reiterates his stand on the matter and expresses that youth nowadays are no different from the youth before. There are just factors today that contribute to mental and emotional pressures, especially due to social media and the internet.
He stressed that if older generations had grown up with the level of online exposure and information overload of today, the effects could have been as overwhelming or even more.
Kuya Kim added that while today’s youth are actually strong, they are dealing with more mental “attacks” than before, making comparisons between generations unfair.
“That’s why I called nga Robin. Kaibigan ko si Robin. That’s why I told him, it’s not as simple. Because it’s not. Hindi question ang kahinaan ng utak. Question ang ano ba ang mundo ngayon, ano ba ang mundo noon? Iba, e. You cannot compare,” he said.
What happened with Robin was, accordingly, just a misunderstanding and was blown out of proportion due to word choices. They reached out to each other regarding the matter, and as Robin’s friend, he knows that the senator is coming from a good place. He understood his point after hearing his explanation.
