PAGASA Says Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather update reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Monday (July 29, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that Southwest Monsoon will bring rains over parts of Luzon. The monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Benguet, Abra, Zambales, and Bataan.

“Makikita natin yung habagat na patuloy nakaka-apekto, partikular na sa kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon,” Badrina reported.

The monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

“Sa mga susunod na araw ay hihina na nga itong southwest monsoon kaya posibleng mga thunderstorms na lamang ang mararanasan sa mga susunod na araw, bandang hapon hanggang sa gabi,” he added.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency is also monitoring a low-pressure area at is also monitoring a low-pressure area. The LPA was last spotted 220 km northeast of Aparri, Cagayan. The LPA is slightly enhancing the Southwest Monsoon.

“In the next 24 hours, mababa ang tsansa na maging ganap na bagyo ito,” weather specialist Veronica Torres said.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate. PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s seaboards.
