Malacañang Palace has declared June 24, 2024, a special non-working day for the City of Manila.
On Wednesday (June 19, 2024), Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed Proclamation No. 599 emphasizing the importance of recognizing Manila’s deep-rooted heritage.
“I, Lucas P. Bersamin, Executive Secretary, by authority of the President, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., do hereby declare Monday, 24 June 2024, a special (non-working) day in the City of Manila,” Bersamin said.
The proclamation aims to provide an opportunity for the residents to actively participate in the festivities marking the city’s 453rd founding anniversary. During this time, residents can take part in community events, visit historical places, watch cultural shows, and join other activities that remind everyone of Manila’s history.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the statement reads.
