Robin Padilla reiterates his intention to amend the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006
Senator Robin Padilla shared his thoughts on the recent shooting incident in a school in Tacloban City.
On June 22, 2026, a devastating scenario shocked the San Jose National High School in Tacloban. Two male students were the suspects in the shooting incident. Reports stated that three died and five were injured.
Some reports also stated that the two male student, 14 and 15, even posted on Facebook flaunting their guns before the incident happened. After the authorities caught them, it was reported that the suspects stated that they were forced to resort to shooting due to the bullying they experienced.
This heartbreaking incident was concerning the Department of Education Regional Office 8, and it also vowed to help the affected students and school personnel.
Following the incident. Senator Robin Padilla shared a news item with his thoughts regarding the R.A. 9344, or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006.
Based on Scribd, the law’s overview stated that this is “The act was passed to establish a comprehensive juvenile justice and welfare system to address juvenile delinquency by treating youth offenders as individuals with rights, and providing prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation programs.”
In Padilla’s post, he was apparently hoping the proposed amendments to the said law would soon be implemented.

With this, he asked what his fellow Senators are waiting for. Then, he mentioned the bill that was recently passed into law. in which he was a co-author. However, he stressed that amending the R.A. 9344 is also a vital thing to do.
“Maraming salamat nga po pala sa pagpasa ng waling waling na co author po ako, napakahalaga po ng panukala na yan para sa ating bayan. In shaa Allah ay maging ganyan din po kabilis ang pagtugon sa panukala ko para naman sa kaligtasan ng kabataan at ng taongbayan,” Senator Robin Padilla said.
