Woman Sustained Wounds & Bruises After Falling Into Damaged Manhole

A woman suffered minor injuries after falling into a damaged manhole along Lomboy Street in Barangay San Jose, Puerto Princesa City. 

On Monday (August 10, 2026), the incident happened while the woman was walking along the street. Without warning, the cover of a manhole suddenly gave way beneath her, causing her to fall and become partially trapped. Her right leg was reportedly caught inside the opening, leaving her unable to free herself. 

The accident resulted in bruises and scratches on her legs. Residents and bystanders immediately became concerned and sought help as the woman struggled to get out of the damaged manhole. 

Fortunately, firefighter FO1 Noli Jotham Ezekiel Jr. L. Acosta was in the area at the time. He was reportedly conducting business inspections in Barangay San Jose when he noticed the incident. 

Seeing the woman in distress, he quickly assisted her and called for additional support from the Puerto Princesa City Fire Station. 

Firefighters responded without delay under the supervision of SFO3 Charmagne E. Padoña, the station’s Officer-in-Charge. Upon arrival, the rescue team carefully assessed the situation and used proper rescue techniques to safely free the woman’s trapped leg. 

After the successful rescue, the woman was immediately brought to the Barangay Health Center for medical attention. Medical personnel treated her minor injuries, and reports indicated that she did not suffer any life-threatening wounds. 

The incident also raised concerns about public safety, particularly the condition of drainage covers and manholes in busy areas. Authorities took steps to address the damaged structure to prevent similar accidents from happening again. 

Residents welcomed the quick response of the firefighters, whose actions helped prevent the situation from becoming more serious. Their quick rescue efforts ensured that the woman received immediate assistance and proper medical care.

Vlogger Faces Criticism After Viral Video Involving Elderly Taho Vendor at Bagasbas Beach In Daet 

A vlogger received criticism from netizens after a video circulated on social media showing an elderly taho vendor being included in his content. 

The now-deleted video showed the content creator interacting with the elderly vendor, identified as Oscar Asis, a 59-year-old taho seller and father of eight children. 

The vlogger handed money to the vendor, leading him to believe that it was being given to him. However, it later became clear that the money was only meant as payment for the taho that had been purchased.

Many viewers expressed disappointment after watching the video, saying that the elderly vendor appeared to have been used as part of prank-style content. Instead of focusing their attention on the vlogger, many people admired the vendor for the way he handled the situation. Despite what happened, he remained calm, respectful, and thankful. 

According to Asis, he initially thought the money was being offered to him. He later learned that the interaction had been recorded and uploaded online. What hurt him more was discovering that the video had become a source of entertainment for others. 

His son, Harold, said he felt saddened after seeing how his father was portrayed on social media. Wanting to understand the situation fully, he searched for the original video and reviewed the events himself.

Members of the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office Cyber Response Team explained that cases involving humiliation or intentional ridicule online may be examined under existing laws if there is evidence that a person was deliberately embarrassed or harmed through content posted on social media. 

The uploader reportedly reached out to the family to settle the matter. With the help of local barangay officials, both sides met and discussed the incident. The vlogger apologized to the family and agreed to issue a public apology online.

Female Student Sustains Injuries After Being Hit by Motorcycle While Crossing Pedestrian Lane

A female student was injured after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing a pedestrian lane along Jaime Cardinal Sin Avenue in Kalibo. 

On Tuesday morning (August 11, 2026), the student was on her way to school and was already crossing through the designated pedestrian lane near Aklan Polytechnic College when the accident happened. 

Witnesses said the motorcycle struck the student, causing her to be thrown to the ground. Reports also indicated that the motorcycle fell on top of her after the impact. 

The student immediately complained of pain in her arm and knee following the accident. People in the area quickly rushed to help her while waiting for emergency responders to arrive. The incident caught the attention of nearby residents and passersby, who were concerned about the condition of the young student. 

Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection, medical responders, and police officers promptly arrived at the scene. The victim was given first aid before being transported by ambulance to a medical facility for further examination and treatment. 

Aside from her physical injuries, concerns were also raised about the emotional trauma she may have experienced after being involved in the accident. 

Authorities conducted an initial investigation and spoke with the motorcycle driver. Reports indicated that the driver was able to present a valid driver’s license. However, officers are still reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine possible liabilities and whether traffic violations were committed. 

The accident happened in a school zone and directly on a pedestrian lane, an area where motorists are expected to slow down and give way to people crossing the road. 

Local authorities reminded drivers, motorcycle riders, tricycle operators, and other motorists to exercise extra caution when approaching pedestrian lanes and school zones.

Man Fell From Fourth Floor of Building Where He Lives During Bad Weather Condition

A man was injured after accidentally falling from the fourth floor of the building during a bad weather in Caloocan City. 

On Monday afternoon (August 10, 2026), residents in the area were alarmed after learning that the man had fallen from the upper level of the building in Barangay 160, Baesa, Caloocan City and needed immediate assistance. 

Emergency responders from the Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports about the accident. Their prompt response helped ensure that the injured man received immediate attention.

After being assessed by responders, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. Initial information indicated that he survived the fall and is currently recovering from his injuries. 

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the extent of his injuries, but reports suggest that he is receiving the care he needs. 

Strong winds, slippery surfaces, and reduced visibility can increase the risk of accidents, especially in elevated areas.

Following the incident, Barangay Captain Dave Alonzo reminded residents to remain careful and alert, particularly during periods of heavy rain and rough weather. Businessman Reported for Allegedly Unlicensed Firearm, Found to Be Properly Documented 

A businessman was reported for allegedly possessing a firearm without legal documents, but police found that the weapon was properly documented. 

A businessman in Roxas, Palawan was cleared of any firearm-related violation after police confirmed that the gun found in his possession was properly documented and legally registered. 

The incident began after authorities received a report claiming that the businessman was keeping a firearm without the necessary legal papers. Acting on the complaint, members of the Roxas Municipal Police Station, together with personnel from the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, carried out a search warrant operation on Tuesday morning in Barangay 4, Roxas. 

The operation was led by Police Major Marvin Herrera, Chief of Police of the Roxas Municipal Police Station. Officers searched the property and located a firearm inside the residence. 

However, upon checking the records and documents presented, authorities found that the firearm was legally registered and supported by complete documentation. 

Police further discovered that the firearm was registered under the name of the businessman’s live-in partner. Because the gun was properly documented, authorities found no basis to file charges related to illegal possession of firearms. 

According to the businessman, the firearm was kept for the protection of himself and his business. He also claimed that the person who reported him to authorities may have acted out of resentment or personal issues. 

Although no charges were filed, police temporarily took custody of the firearm as part of the legal process. The weapon will be presented before the court while the matter is being formally documented and reviewed. 

After verifying all records, authorities confirmed that there was no violation of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. As a result, the businessman was not arrested and was allowed to go free.
