Businessman Cleared After Police Verify Firearm Documents in Palawan 

Businessman Reported for Allegedly Unlicensed Firearm, Found to Be Properly Documented 

A businessman was reported for allegedly possessing a firearm without legal documents, but police found that the weapon was properly documented. 

A businessman in Roxas, Palawan was cleared of any firearm-related violation after police confirmed that the gun found in his possession was properly documented and legally registered. 

The incident began after authorities received a report claiming that the businessman was keeping a firearm without the necessary legal papers. Acting on the complaint, members of the Roxas Municipal Police Station, together with personnel from the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, carried out a search warrant operation on Tuesday morning in Barangay 4, Roxas. 

The operation was led by Police Major Marvin Herrera, Chief of Police of the Roxas Municipal Police Station. Officers searched the property and located a firearm inside the residence. 

However, upon checking the records and documents presented, authorities found that the firearm was legally registered and supported by complete documentation. 

Police further discovered that the firearm was registered under the name of the businessman’s live-in partner. Because the gun was properly documented, authorities found no basis to file charges related to illegal possession of firearms. 

According to the businessman, the firearm was kept for the protection of himself and his business. He also claimed that the person who reported him to authorities may have acted out of resentment or personal issues. 

Although no charges were filed, police temporarily took custody of the firearm as part of the legal process. The weapon will be presented before the court while the matter is being formally documented and reviewed. 

After verifying all records, authorities confirmed that there was no violation of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. As a result, the businessman was not arrested and was allowed to go free.
