PAGASA Says ITCZ & Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition
LATEST WEATHER UPDATE – The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that ITCZ will bring rains over some parts of the country.
On Saturday (May 13, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Intertropical Convergence Zone and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will be affecting southern Mindanao.
The ITCZ / Localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have similar weather condition.
The weather agency has warned the public about possible flash floods or landslides occurring during severe thunderstorms. The coastal water condition over Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
According to the latest weather update, the anticipated heat index for Metro Manila is predicted to reach a scorching range of 38 degrees Celsius as a minimum and a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius.
This means that the weather conditions in the region are expected to be hot and humid, making it important for people to take necessary precautions and stay hydrated.
However, the situation is even more extreme in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, where the heat index is projected to soar to a staggering 45 degrees Celsius. This is a critical situation and requires people living in the region to be extra cautious and take necessary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
This heat index takes into account both temperature and humidity, which means that even when the air temperature is not too high, the heat index can still be high and make people feel uncomfortable and at risk.
