Chinese Vlogger Known for Extreme Mukbangs Dies at 24

Vlogger Who Ate 60–70 Duck Eggs in One Sitting Dies at 24

Chinese content creator Chen Ziyi, also known online as Ganpan Yingying, reportedly died at the age of 24 after gaining popularity for her mukbang videos. She had around 1.2 million followers on social media and was known for eating unusually large amounts of food on camera.

One of her most viral videos showed her eating around 60 to 70 duck eggs in a single sitting. Her extreme eating content helped her gain a large following and supported her work in live selling.

Chinese media outlets reported that Chen died on August 17, 2026. However, her death was only confirmed by her parents on September 4. Her family did not reveal the exact cause of death.

According to a friend, Chen had been suffering from hypokalemia, a condition in which the potassium level in the blood becomes too low. Severe hypokalemia can affect normal heart function and may lead to serious complications, including cardiac arrest.

Before her death, Chen reportedly posted a video about being hospitalized. She revealed that she had hypokalemia and said it was not the first time she had been admitted to a hospital because of the condition.

Chen also explained that she had been doing mukbangs because she believed they helped make her live-selling work more effective. While she relied on the content for income, she also stressed the importance of putting health first.

Meanwhile, South Korean media outlet The Asia Business Daily reported that Chen would sometimes induce vomiting after her mukbang sessions.

The exact circumstances of her death remain unclear because her family has not publicly confirmed the cause. Her death has raised concerns about the health risks of extreme eating content and the pressure on creators who depend on such videos for their income.
