Motorcycle Taxi Rider Punched by Man While Waiting for Booking in Taguig City
A motorcycle taxi rider who was simply waiting for his next booking became the victim of an unexpected attack in Barangay Pitogo, Taguig City.
On Monday (July 27, 2026), the 25-year-old rider had just dropped off a passenger along Leyte Street and parked his motorcycle while waiting for another booking request.
According to the rider, he noticed a man and a woman nearby who appeared to be arguing. As they passed in front of him, he briefly looked in their direction after hearing the commotion.

The couple continued walking, but after a few moments, the 21-year-old man suddenly turned around and approached the rider. The suspect allegedly asked him if there was a problem. The rider explained that he was only waiting for a booking and had no issue with anyone. Despite this, the man reportedly punched him without warning.
Fortunately, people who were with the suspect quickly stepped in and stopped the attack from getting worse. After the incident, the rider immediately went to the barangay hall to file a blotter report and seek assistance from authorities.
Officials initially had difficulty locating the suspect. However, later that same day, the man voluntarily appeared at the barangay hall to explain his side and apologize. He reportedly admitted hurting the rider and said he had been drinking before the incident.
According to barangay officials, the suspect claimed he was overwhelmed by emotions after an argument with his live-in partner and ended up directing his anger toward someone who was not involved.
Despite the apology, the victim and his family refused to settle the matter privately. The rider’s father expressed concern for his son’s safety, especially because he works on the road every day and could be exposed to similar situations.
Authorities said the suspect may face a complaint for slight physical injury as the case moves forward.
