Cayetano Slams Possible Filing of Plunder vs. Marcoleta over P75 Million Contribution: ‘Hindi naman siya yumaman dun’

Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano Joins INC Rally To Support Sen. Rodante Marcoleta

ALAN PETER CAYETANO – The Senate minority Leader spoke on the possible filing of plunder charges versus Senator Rodante Marcoleta.

The possible filing of plunder charges against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta is reportedly the reason behind the surprise rally of the INC or Iglesia ni Cristo members. Thousands of members of the religious bloc gathered along EDSA to protest.

Marcoleta is one of the minority senators who are faced with accusations. Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla previously announced that plunder charges may be filed against the Senator this week.

The Senator hit back at the Ombudsman citing the event in the Senate wherein he agreed with Sen. Erwin Tulfo about ‘bending the law’. According to him, he expects that he will be arrested and jailed.

Sen. Rodante Marcoleta claimed that his possible arrest and imprisonment are ‘small sacrifices’ to serve the Filipino people and show them their value as the people of the nation. He called on the Filipinos not to allow the distortion of reasoning.

Some minority senators and government officials who belong to the opposition joined the surprise rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo members. One of them is former Senate President and now Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano.

Cayetano recently made headlines after 12 senators who, later on, became 13 senators ousted him from the Senate presidency after a very short stint. The then-minority senators even called for his resignation amid his absence in the Senate sessions.

Then, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano claimed that they are allegedly protecting the Senate committee chairmanships so the flood control investigation can push through. At the rally, he was asked why he joined the protest.

“Plunder for campaign contribution? Na hindi naman ‘to, hindi nakinabang in the sense na hindi naman yumaman si Sen. Marcoleta dun. So when I saw that spontaneously lumabas ‘yung mga tao, I felt I owe it to them na the fight is not just in the Senate, it’s in the hearts and minds,”

“For people to sacrifice their time umabsent, magutom, to be here, siguro maliit na bagay na dumating tayo’t makiisa,” Cayetano added.

Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano claimed that the minority senators are allegedly having a hard time dealing with the different issues in the country now. He stressed the line of the late former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

“For me it’s nonsense but we expected it… Lahat kami we’re on borrowed time pero ipinapasa-Diyos namin. You know 40 years of EDSA. Ano ba sabi ni dating Sen. Ninoy Aquino? The Filipino is worth fighting for then naging worth dying for because he gave his life,” the Senator said.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano apologized for those who are caught in traffic but stressed that protest are meant for inconvenience to set as alarms. Based on the post, he claimed that he has yet to talk to Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.

Aside from former Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos who slammed the government led by her brother also joined the surprise rally of the INC.
