Rodante Marcoleta received support from INC
Religious group, Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), released a statement, stressing the innocence of Senator Rodante Marcoleta following the announcement that a plunder complaint may be filed against him.
The accusation against Marcoleta, who is a member of the said religious group, came from the alleged undisclosed P75 million campaign donation he received during the 2025 midterm elections.
Reports stated that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla announced that his office will formally file a plunder complaint before the Sandiganbayan against Marcoleta.
The members Iglesia ni Cristo launched an unannounced “emergency rally” on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, causing major traffic gridlock and road closures along EDSA and nearby areas.
In an official statement, Iglesia ni Cristo stressed that the group is not against justice. However, they are against the bending of the law, especially when it is intended to cover up anomalies.
INC also stressed that Marcoleta led the investigation in one of the biggest plunder cases in the history of the country, when he became the head of the Blue Ribbon Committee, but he was replaced, and now, he is the one being accused of plunder.
Since the plunder complaint is non-bailable, Marcoleta had to stay inside the detention center in the duration of the whole case. This meant that he will no longer be able to expose those who are allegedly involved in the anomalies.
INC also stressed that the campaign funds that Sen. Rodante Marcoleta received was not from the government, but to from his supporters. The group added that even the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has already proven that there was no crime committed when he received the campaign funds.
“Sinusuportahan ng Iglesia ni Cristo ang itinataguyod ni Senator Marcoleta dahil ito rin ang posisyon namin. Nananawagan kami para sa transparency, accountability, justice, and peace. Kaya nais naming iparinig sa kinauukulan na kahit ipakulong nila si Senator Marcoleta ay hindi kami titigil sa paghingi ng katarungan para sa mga kababayan natin na ninakawan,” the religious group said, adding that selective justice is injustice.
