Francine Diaz recalls the struggling days of her family.
Kapamilya actress Francine Diaz opened up about the difficult financial struggles her family faced before.
During a recent interview, Kapamilya actress Francine Diaz opened up about this difficult time in her life with her family. Before she became famous as an actress, she had a difficult past that shaped her determination to succeed.
She recalled that even the most basic needs are hardly met. There was a time when they had no electricity due to unpaid bills, forcing them to settle and endure the hot nights due to a lack of proper ventilation. They just have this piece of cardboard to relieve their struggle and survive the night.
Apart from this discomfort, what marked her memory was their starvation. There were days when they had nothing to eat. At one point, her youngest sibling had no milk and had to rely on “am,” a rice-based substitute, highlighting just how dire their situation was.
“Wala rin kaming pang-almusal. Wala ring pananghalian. So parang, ‘Paano tayo kakain?’ Pag binuksan mo yung ref, wala rin namang malamig na tubig or, like, wala nang tubig kasi hindi pa nakaka-order ulit ng panibagong galon. So, parang doon ko naisip na, ‘Ay, ayoko ng ganito,'” she expressed.
These experiences have become her turning point, and she promised herself that she would do anything to help her family get out of poverty. At such a young age, the hardships drove her to build a better life, not for herself, but for her family.
She persevered, and at 10 years old, she joined show business. Her biggest break was in the defunct Kapamilya afternoon drama series Kadenang Ginto (2018-2020). More projects then followed.
She was a part of the defunct primetime series Dirty Linen (2023) and Sins of The Father (2025). It proved that God listens to her because it didn’t take long for Him to answer her prayers. Those prayers guided her toward opportunities that would eventually change her life, including the lives of her family.
They are now enjoying a comfortable life, the fruit of her labor. While she says they are not extremely wealthy, she takes pride in the fact that they no longer worry about having enough food.
