Lady Sari-Sari Store Owner in Tabaco City Loses P170,000 to Thieves Using “Pamimingwit” Modus
A 59-year-old store owner has expressed her frustration after losing P170,000 to a “Pamimingwit” modus in Tabaco City.
On March 16, 2026, a female store owner shared her painful experience after she fell victim to a clever theft method known as the “Pamimingwit” theft scheme. The incident happened in Barangay San Carlos while the victim was busy preparing food inside her home and small store.
While she was focused on cooking, four men took advantage of the situation. From outside the store, they used a long bamboo stick to reach inside and hook her body bag. Without entering the place, they carefully pulled it toward them. The method allowed them to steal without being noticed right away.

The suspects had already escaped when the victim discovered the modus. Inside the stolen bag were cash amounting to P120,000, along with jewelry and a watch worth around P50,000. The total loss reached P170,000, a huge amount for someone running a small neighborhood store.
Witnesses later reported seeing four men leaving the area on two blue motorcycles, heading in the direction of Legazpi City. Their quick escape made it difficult for anyone nearby to stop them.
Authorities in Tabaco City have started reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to track down the suspects. Investigators are hoping that the cameras will provide clear leads that can help identify and arrest those responsible.
Fortunately, the victim was not harmed during the incident, but the loss has affected her.
Local officials continue to urge residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity. Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is encouraged to contact the nearest police station and assist in locating the suspects.
