CCTV Captures Group of Thieves Using Old Modus in Makati
SALISI MODUS – A group of thieves was caught on CCTV while carrying out a well-planned theft in Makati City.
On May 8, 2025 (Thursday), Jayson Ereno, a Facebook user, shared a video of a group of thieves stealing valuables using an old modus operandi. The post garnered varioius reactions from the online community.
The incident involved an elderly man who became the unsuspecting victim of a familiar trick. Based on the video and the post, the thieves used a distraction tactic. One of them approached the victim, who was inside his parked vehicle, and told him there was something wrong at the back of the car.
When the man stepped out to check, other members of the group quickly opened the door and took valuable items from inside the vehicle.
The entire move was done in seconds. Everything appeared coordinated, suggesting that the group had done this before. According to the post, there were five people involved, each with a specific role in the act.
The modus has been around for a while but seems to be resurfacing. The incident reminds everyone, especially drivers, to stay alert and cautious at all times. Even a simple moment of distraction can give thieves the chance to strike.
The post is encouraging people to be more aware of their surroundings, especially in parking areas or while inside their vehicles. Authorities are also being urged to increase patrols and surveillance in busy city spots to help prevent similar incidents.
