Young Boy Electrocuted While Flying Kite in Koronadal City
A 12-year-old boy was injured after being electrocuted while flying a kite at Purok Urban Dako, Barangay San Isidro in Koronadal City.
On Tuesday afternoon (March 17, 2026), a child was electrocuted after his kite gets caught in a power line. The incident spread like wildfire online and raised concerns from netizens.
The child, identified only as Al, had just arrived home from school when he decided to play outside and fly his kite. According to his mother, he went straight to an open field near their home, a common place for children in the area to play.
While flying the kite, it accidentally got caught in an overhead power line. Some children nearby said he tried to retrieve it, not realizing that the wire was live. At one point, he stumbled over a can in the field and came into contact with the electrical line, which caused the shock.
The boy suffered injuries, including wounds on his right arm. People in the area quickly rushed to help him. They performed first aid and attempted to revive him before bringing him to the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital for immediate treatment.
He is now recovering in the hospital and is under close observation. His family remains hopeful as he continues to regain strength.
The incident has raised concern among residents, especially parents, about the dangers of playing near electrical lines. Many are reminded to guide children and ensure they avoid risky situations, even during simple outdoor activities like flying a kite.
