Who is Bong Suntay? Check out some details.
WHO IS BONG SUNTAY? The Quezon City 4th District Representative is under backlash, and here are a few details about him.
Jesus Manuel Angel Cabochan Suntay is the 4th District Representative of Quezon City. He is currently under fire due to the remarks he made about ABS-CBN actress Anne Curtis.

Suntay, during a hearing on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, mentioned the actress to make a point. However, instead of defending his stance, his objectifying comment about the actress enraged many.
Details about Suntay are limited online. He was born on November 15, 1970. Early on in his life, he always knew he wanted to be a lawyer and a businessman.
While he was still in high school, his father encouraged him to learn about computers as new technology was emerging in the country. His father, who worked as a chief linotypist, wanted him to take advantage of this opportunity.
However, seeing how hard his father worked yet still struggled to provide enough for their family of six, he decided to pursue law instead. He believed that becoming a lawyer would allow him to go into public service and eventually build his own business, which he felt would give him better opportunities than regular employment.

While in college, he supported himself by taking on small businesses and doing various jobs, including teaching swimming. He later used his savings to start a taxi business and even drove a taxi himself to better understand the trade and ensure proper earnings.
Right after graduating from San Beda College of Law in 1996 and upon admission to the Philippine Bar in 1997, he practiced his profession. He was an associate and partner lawyer and the president of his own company, BASIC Transport Management. This is one of the largest and most trusted taxi fleets in the country.
He became the president of the Philippine National Taxi Operating Association (PNTOA), but in 2004, gasoline prices increased. This prompted him to look for a cheaper alternative fuel, which was the auto LPG.

After operating a taxi, he ventured into selling LPG conversion kits after proving their effectiveness to his units. This approach was 40% cheaper for Bong, and the use of alternative fuel was featured on television and gained popularity. Other taxi operators did the same, and members of the PNTOA adopted LPG, seeking his conversion services.
Amid his law practice and expanding businesses, Bong also devoted time to public service. He served as councilor of District 4 in Quezon City from 1998 to 2016, consistently earning the highest votes and becoming the longest-serving majority leader in the city’s history. In the 2019 midterm elections, he was elected congressman of the same district.
