Pinay Caregiver Lost Her Life While Saving Patient Amid Conflict in Israel
A Pinay caregiver in Israel lost her life while trying to save the elderly person under her care during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. shared the sad news on his official Facebook page. He expressed deep sympathy to the family of Mary Ann Velasquez de Vera, an overseas Filipino worker from Pangasinan.
According to the President, Mary Ann died while attempting to bring her patient to a shelter as violence erupted in the area.

Reports said she was hit by shrapnel from falling bombs. Despite the danger around her, she chose to stay by her patient’s side and help bring them to safety. Her actions showed courage and dedication, even in the face of great risk.
Mary Ann was later identified by her husband, who is also an overseas Filipino worker in Israel. The heartbreaking news has deeply affected her family, friends, and many Filipinos who understand the sacrifices made by workers abroad.
The President assured the public that the government stands ready to support Mary Ann’s family during this painful time. He said authorities continue to monitor the situation of Filipinos in the Middle East and remain prepared to respond to their needs.
The government is working closely with concerned agencies to ensure the safety and welfare of overseas Filipino workers in areas affected by conflict.
