Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Role of Unnamed Person She Recruits to be her Running Mate
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President denied that she will be a vengeful president if she wins the 2028 Elections.
Ahead of the 2028 Elections, some surveys have shown that Duterte is leading the presidential race. Her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, previously claimed that his arrest and the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands can allegedly lead to the presidency of his daughter.
Previously, the Vice President claimed that the former President has already given her his blessings to run for the presidency in 2028. It is contrary to the previous claim of the former President that he wants his daughter to get away from politics.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, FPRRD is even excited to campaign for her and to be her number one supporter in her presidential bid. However, the former President remains detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague since March 2025.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that she will run for president in 2028. Her declaration came amid the rift between her and her brothers and Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Duterte siblings condemned the Marcos government for allegedly surrendering their father to the foreign authorities.
In an interview with SMNI, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she has already recruited someone to be her running mate in the 2028 Elections. Several names of the possible running mate of the Vice President previously crossed the surface.
Sen. Bam Aquino was speculated to be the running mate of Vice Pres. Duterte in 2028 but he immediately put an end to the rumors saying he will not run for the vice presidency in the next national polls. Minority Sen. Robin Padilla is also pushing for the Sara-Imee tandem.
Recently, during an interview, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was told that some people are allegedly hesitant to support her because it may only lead to revenge. Based on a post, the Vice President claimed that she has never been vengeful. She stressed that it is not in her character to take revenge.
“Wala sa history ko… sa history ng trabaho ko ang gumaganti. Wala sa ugali ko ‘yun sa pagtatrabaho pero ito lang ang sasabihin ko. Hindi pwede na walang managot,” she expressed.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte further revealed that the person she is recruiting to be her running mate will allegedly be the one who will focus on holding those who have committed wrongs against the government accountable. According to her, in that way, she can focus in her work as the president of the country.
“‘Yung nire-recruit ko na vice president, siya ang magpapanagot sa mga gumawa ng mali sa bayan para ako nakatutok ako sa trabaho ng president,” Duterte expressed based on the post.
Previously, Sen. Robin Padilla admitted that he is willing to be the running mate of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in the 2028 Elections.
