Man Faces Charges for Stealing Fudgee Barrs from Convenience Store Out of Hunger
A 39-year-old man was arrested after stealing two pieces of Fudgee Barr from a convenience store in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
According to reports, the man, identified only by the alias Charles, entered a convenience store located near where he lives On Monday evening (February 9, 2026). While inside, he took two cake bars worth P26. Instead of paying for the items, he left the store right away.
Store staff later noticed what happened and reported the incident to barangay tanod in the area. The barangay tanod responded immediately and was able to locate and arrest the suspect.

The culprit was then brought to the police station for proper documentation and investigation. Authorities confirmed that a theft case was filed against him.
During questioning, the man explained that he stole the food because he was very hungry and had no money to buy anything to eat. His situation showed the difficult reality faced by some people who struggle daily just to meet basic needs.
Even though the stolen items were of low value, authorities reminded the public that taking something without paying is still considered a crime. They also stressed the importance of seeking help from proper channels during times of need instead of resorting to illegal actions.
