With love and quiet vulnerability, actor Vin Abrenica opened up a part of himself as a father when he shared this message for her youngest daughter. He and actress Sophie Albert have two children, and in his letter, he expressed a message for his youngest.
Opening up his heart, he explained that even before she was born, he and Sophie had an understanding that the mother would naturally be the baby’s main source of comfort. With this, he would step back and focus more on the older one. This was a reality he accepted, knowing that newborns often need their mothers more first.
But now that his youngest is one year old, he admitted that he can sometimes feel he is being left out. His child can say several words and sounds except “daddy,” for now, and even when given a choice, the child rarely goes to him. This is a realization that hurt him. He recognizes this feeling as he has also gone through the same experience with their eldest.
He wrote, “And if you get to choose who you go to, I’m usually last. That part stings a little… but I remember this feeling. I felt the exact same way when your ate was your age. So I know how this goes.”
However, he knows that there will come a time when the child will seek him out, run to him, and choose him. That time is not now yet, and he is okay with the waiting.
He ended his message with reassurance and patience. He expressed, “I’ll be right here. Because one day, you’ll find out that daddy gives the best games, the loudest laughs, and the most intense kind of fun. And when that day comes, I’ll be ready.”
