Grab Driver Faces Complaint Over Alleged Religious Harassment

A Grab driver is facing a harassment complaint from a passenger over alleged offensive religious remarks.

On Sunday, January 4, 2026, a Grab passenger reported being subjected to inappropriate religious remarks by a driver. The incident took place during a trip to San Sebastián Cathedral along San Juan Street in Barangay 12.

The passenger, who chose not to reveal her identity, was traveling with elderly family members on their way to attend a church service. During the trip, the driver allegedly began making negative comments about Catholic beliefs and those who practice the faith.

The remarks made the passengers uncomfortable, especially given the presence of senior citizens in the vehicle.

Hoping to avoid further tension, the group chose not to engage and activated the Quiet Ride option on the app. This feature is meant to limit conversation between drivers and passengers. Despite this, the driver reportedly continued speaking and making comments throughout the ride, adding to the distress of those inside the vehicle.

After the incident, the passenger filed a formal complaint through Grab’s customer support system. She expressed concern not only about the disrespect shown toward their beliefs but also about their sense of safety during the trip.

The experience was deeply uncomfortable, and we felt it posed a threat to our sense of safety, especially with our elderly relatives on board and as we were heading to a religious service,” the passenger said.

Grab responded by taking action against the driver involved. The company placed the driver under its corrective measures, which include a point-based strike system, and temporarily suspended him while the case is being reviewed.
