Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Video Message for Filipinos, Concerned Gov’t Agencies
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President called on the concerned government agencies to start taking action amid the looming oil price hike.
Countless Filipinos are currently worried over the possible increase in the cost of fuel amid the ongoing war in the Middle East. The ongoing war caught national attention after the United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran. According to U.S. Pres. Donald Trump, Iran allegedly conducts long-running campaign of violence that goes contrary to the interest of America.

Amid the possibility of oil price increase in the coming weeks due to the ongoing Middle East war, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a temporary 4-day work week set up in some government agencies. The move is in line with the pursuit for fuel conservation.
The said new work setup in the government does not apply to all agencies. According to the President, the government agencies that provide emergency and frontline services are not covered by the 4-day work week.

“Hindi kabilang dito ang mga nagbibigay ng emergency o pangunahing serbisyo, gaya ng mga pulis, bumbero, at mga tanggapan na nagbibigay ng frontline services sa publiko,” the President expressed.

For the LGUs, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte aired a suggestion to temporarily ban non-essential activities like celebrating feasts that uses fuel. She also advised the LGU to come up with a committee that will monitor the prices of the basic commodities.
The Vice President also called on the LGUs to go for information dissemination with regard to the changes in oil prices and guide for the Filipinos families on oil conservation techniques.
“Magbahagi ng impormasyon sa pagbabago ng presyo at turuan ang pamilya ng praktikal na hakbang sa pagtitipid, tulad ng pagbawas ng paggamit ng sasakyan at kuryente,” Duterte said.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also cited some tips for the ordinary Filipinos on how to conserve fuel amid the looming increase of oil cost. She called on the people to avoid unnecessary energy consumption and give priority to the basic needs.
“Bigyang-prayoridad ang pangunahing bilihin at planuhin ang budget ng pamilya. Bumili muna sa lokal na produkto upang palakasin ang lokal na ekonomiya at mabawasan ang epekto ng pagtaas ng langis,” the Vice President said.
