Robin Padilla has earned the “Bad Boy” moniker
Senator Robin Padilla reacted to his “playboy” image in the entertainment industry, aside from being called the Bad Boy of Philippine cinema.
Robin has been in the entertainment industry for many years before he decided to enter politics in 2022. During the prime of his career as an action star, he was tagged as “Bad Boy.” It is known to many showbiz fans that he was imprisoned was convicted of illegal possession of firearms in 1994.
He was released after four years because former President Fidel V. Ramos granted him a conditional pardon. Robin returned to the entertainment industry after that.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Robin Padilla was asked about his Bad Boy moniker. He said that he had changed while he was in prison.
“When you’re inside jail and you’re alone, you would realize, ‘Oops, di pwedeng panindigan ko to. Kundi di ako lalaya. So, I started to be good. I’m not saying I’m good but nagpapakabait ako until now because it’s a struggle,” the actor-politician said.
He was also asked about being called a “playboy.” Robin stressed that this was just an accusation. “Napagbintangan lang ako diyan,” he said.
The senator also said that there was no truth to this allegation and that it was just used for packaging. Then, he said that in reality, he is “mabait.” He explained that in an action movie, it is inevitable to be linked to his leading ladies. Robin jokingly said that it was Viva’s Boss, Vic del Rosario’s, fault.
Robin also said that he did not court his leading ladies. However, he shared that the project would last for several months. During this period of time, the actor-politician said that it would be possible that romantic feelings between the lead stars would develop.
In the same interview, Robin also shared that he wanted to work again with his past leading ladies, such as Megastar Sharon Cuneta and singer-actress Vina Morales.
When asked if Mariel Padilla is warning him regarding his new leading ladies, Robin Padilla said that his wife trusts him. “I’m a teenager now, dati kasi puberty pa yun. If you’re a teenager, napipigil mo na sarili mo,” he quipped.
