Statement of Akbayan on Upcoming November 30 Rally vs. Corruption
Akbayan asserted that President Bongbong Marcos should explain the massive corruption under his administration but they will not allow Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to benefit from the call for accountability on November 30.
Several senators, congressmen, and officials of DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country. It left countless Filipinos dismayed and calling for accountability.

Thousands of Filipinos joined the so-called “Trillion Peso March” that was first held last September 21. Protest actions were held in the different cities and regions across the nation. Amid the ongoing investigation on the supposed massive corruption in the Philippine government, Akbayan and other groups are set to hold another rally on November 30.
Currently, not only the senators, congressmen, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez were tagged in the supposed massive corruption issues in the Philippine government. Flood control accused Zaldy Co recently tagged Pres. Bongbong Marcos and former Speaker Martin Romualdez in the budget insertion mess in the country.

Co also claimed that the President and the former House Speaker allegedly got a P56-billion kickback. According to him, he was allegedly told by Romualdez to stay out of the country as per the supposed order from Marcos Jr.
Ahead of the November 30 “Trillion Peso March”, Akbayan Pres. Rafaela David claimed that the call for Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ resignation is not the main agenda in the upcoming rally but they are not setting aside the possibility that the Chief Executive is allegedly linked to the corruption issue in the country.
“Kami po sa Akbayan, kasama na rin ‘yung mga miyembro at iba’t ibang kabahagi ng ‘A Trillion Peso March’ [ay] united po kami sa panawagan na we will go where the evidence leads,” the Akbayan President said.

Speaking to One News, Akbayan Pres. Rafaela David clarified that Pres. Bongbong Marcos must explain the supposed massive corruption under his administration. On the other side, based on the post, she also emphasized that they will not allow Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to benefit from the call for accountability.
“Kailangan naman din talagang magpaliwanag at panagutin si Marcos doon sa kalakihan ng korupsyon sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon. Gayundin, hindi naman tayo papayag na ma-hijack ni Sara Duterte ‘yung panawagan natin sa panangutan,” David said.
Amid the corruption accusations against him, Pres. Bongbong Marcos vowed that he will finish the flood control investigation as he has initiated it.
