BONGBONG MARCOS – The President is confident over the Oplan Kontra Baha, a newly-launched program of his administration following the recent massive flooding.

Many victims of the flood triggered by typhoon Tino are calling for justice and Ombudsman Boying Remulla previously assured that he heard the call. Over 200 people died due to the wrath of the said typhoon that hit several parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

Cebu experienced massive flooding triggered by typhoon Tino. Many residents in some cities in the province had to immediately climb the roof of their houses after the floodwater level reached the roof of the single-storey houses.

Unfortunately, a lot of residents in Cebu drowned in flood. Several cities in the province of Negros were also hit hard by the typhoon which was followed by another calamity, the super typhoon Uwan, that hit Luzon. Tino left Cebu greatly-devastated.

Following the wrath of typhoon Tino, Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously assured the victims of the flood triggered by the typhoon that the government will help them recover from the impacts of the calamity. Marcos Jr. also apologized. According to him, the preparations made was for storm surge but it was flash flood that occured.

Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro was left disappointed by the massive flooding in her province as she pointed out the P26-billion flood control funds. According to her, they immediately checked the flood mitigation in the province and submitted a report to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.

The ICI was created upon the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for the investigation of the supposed flood control corruption in the country. According Gov. Baricuatro, many of the flood control projects in Cebu are allegedly either ghost or substandard.

Recently, the administration of Pres. Bongbong Marcos launched the Oplan Kontra Baha program following the recent massive flooding in the country. Based on a report on GMA News, the kickoff of the program was held at Mahiga Creek located between Mandaue City and Cebu City.

“Ang projection natin, ang pangako sa atin… one year… ang pangako sa akin, ‘pag ka umulan ulit, hindi na magbabaha,” Marcos Jr. said.

Based on the report, waste removal, dredging, cleaning of the waterways, and the removal of illegal structures to bring back the natural flow of water were done at the creek and Pres. Bongbong Marcos witnessed them.

The wrath of typhoon Tino left many people not only homeless but severely grieving. A mother lost her entire family to the devastation caused by typhoon Tino.
