Rica Peralejo reunited with Piolo Pascual
Actress Rica Peralejo talked about her acting comeback through a movie with A-list actor Piolo Pascual.
Rica rose to fame as one of the ’90s teen stars. However, after doing many TV shows and movies, she took a break from showbiz, especially when she got married and had her kids.
For the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025, Rica returned to the big screen through the movie Manila’s Finest with Piolo. Previously, the actress shared that she and the actor had a past. She explained that there was a connection between them, which was more than just friendship, but no label.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Rica Peralejo talked about her onscreen reunion with Piolo Pascual.
She said that one of the reasons why she accepted this project was that it was with Piolo. In the movie, directed by Raymond Red, Rica and Piolo played the roles of a couple. This is produced by MQuest Ventures and Cignal.
The story, set in 1969, focused on a band of Manila policemen having their struggles in order to preserve their integrity and loyalties during the time when state control signals a nation about to change.
Piolo’s character is a seasoned cop named Lt. Homer Magtibay. During the interview, Rica said, “Yeah, one, is that my husband (Pastor Joseph Bonifacio) was right in saying that Piolo never makes poor-quality films.”
She added that in the past years, it was recorded that Piolo’s projects were remarkable, and that he did caliber films. Another reason she also considered was how big this project was.
The actress also shared that she relied on Piolo to guide her in her acting comeback. “I’m just banking on our relationship because we’ve known each other for… My gosh, teens pa lang yata kami, I already know him. Pager pa lang po ang meron tayo, we’re already friends,” Rica shared.
The actress also said that she can really rely on Piolo because it was hard for her to return after a very long break. It was helpful for her that there was someone with whom she was already familiar on the set, and she got the needed support from Piolo.
Over the years, Rica Peralejo and Piolo Pascual remained friends even though they did not frequently talk to each other.
The filming of “Manila’s Finest” has already begun, and they’ve already shot their scenes together.
“But I feel like we’ve been so close in the past. It’s just like when you see each other again, parang kapatid, alam mo yun? You’ve known somebody all your life. That’s the feeling or relationship that I have with him. Hindi ako naiilang because this is the person I know,” the actress shared.
