Emil Sumangil continues his exposition of the story about missing sabungeros
Veteran broadcaster Emil Sumangil ignored the death threats he received and continued disclosing details in the story of missing sabungeros.
When reports that the missing sabungeros were buried in Taal Lake, Emil interviewed Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, or Alias Totoy, the supposed “whistleblower” in the “missing sabungeros” case.
According to reports, wealthy businessman Atong Ang was allegedly the mastermind behind this, and former actress Gretchen Barretto was allegedly involved in the crime.
As Emil Sumangil continued to share details of this case, he received death threats. His wife asked for prayers from the public amid the issue.
For a few days, Emil was not seen on the Kapuso primetime news program 24 Oras. This worried many netizens. In a social media post, the veteran broadcaster said that he is “buhay na buhay.”
In a recent interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, Emil admitted that every day, he receives death threats. However, he stressed that this will not hinder him from continuing what he has started.
“Foul talaga. Yung message, e, talagang kung mahina-hina ang naturalesa mo, hindi ka makakakain ng almusal,” he shared, adding that aside from messages, he would also receive calls.
The broadcaster shared that it all started with messages, and then, even his friends would question him. “Nagsimula sa messages hanggang sa yung kaibigan mo na hindi mo sukat-akalain na, ‘Teka muna, kanino ka ba kampi, sa akin?'” he said.
Emil remembered that the last message that he received was “Saan ko ipapadala yung bulaklak mo?” Then, he asked what flower, and the reply was, “Bulaklak ng patay dahil malapit na ang burol mo?”
The veteran admitted that he feels fear for his family, but he will not stop. He stressed that he will continue because he wants this case to have a closure.
When asked how his kids are, he said that they are okay. He would just talk to them about this every night when they are having their dinner. It’s okay for his kids to hear updates from him.
On the other hand, his wife is sort of worried because, first and foremost, she is not a media practitioner, and she is not used to this kind of scenario. Emil Sumangil expressed gratitude to the GMA management for providing security personnel for him and his family.
