Jinggoy Estrada started a legal battle against Brice Hernandez
Senator Jinggoy Estrada officially filed a perjury case against former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineer Brice Hernandez.
Hernandez served as an assistant district engineer of the DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office. With his revelations about the anomalous flood control projects during the Senate inquiry, he was placed under the DOJ’s Witness Protection Program.
The lawmaker was dragged into the issue of anomalous flood control projects. Hernandez claimed that Estrada and his fellow lawmaker, Senator Joel Villanueva, received kickbacks.

Hernandez also claimed that Estrada inserted about PHP355 million worth of flood control projects in Bulacan. Both Estrada and Villaueva denied the allegations against them.
Previously, Villanueva even made a statement video that he would file a case against his accusers. Estrada made that a reality for himself. Based on the report from the Philippine News Agency, on Tuesday, October 7, the son of former President Erap Estrada took legal action against his accuser.
Sen. Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada filed a perjury complaint against Brice Hernandez before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

In Estrada’s complaint-affidavit, he said that the ex-DPWH engineer made false statements under oath. The Senator also pointed out that Hernandez maliciously concocted lies to damage his name and reputation.
“For this reason, I am charging respondent Hernandez with the crime of perjury under Article 183 of the Revised Penal Code,” the Senator said.
He said that with the perjury complaint he filed, he aims to clear his name and hold accountable those who accused him without basis. “These malicious lies cannot go unanswered,” Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said.
Meanwhile, Estrada’s appeal for the dismissal of the pork barrel case filed against him was denied by the Sandiganbayan. To recall, the senator was detained with his friend and fellow politician Bong Revilla, because of their alleged involvement in the flood controverporjects.
