FAMAS apologizes to Rosa Rosal over the false announcement.
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) publicly apologized for making this announcement about Rosa Rosal.
Veteran actress Rosa Rosal is still alive. However, the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards made a mistake announcing that she had passed away. This has alerted the family and prompted the organization to issue a statement and apologize.

The earlier post has since been deleted by FAMAS, but netizens had already taken notice of it before its removal. FAMAS has issued an apology after mistakenly reporting that Rosal had passed away.
In a statement, the FAMAS said, “We sincerely apologize for an earlier post regarding the passing of Ms. Rosa Rosal. It has come to our attention that the information was false.”
It added its wish to clarify that Rosal is very much alive. The organization is truly sorry for the confusion and any distress this may have brought to her loved ones and admirers. At FAMAS, they stressed that they hold truth and credibility in high regard, and assured that they will ensure more careful verification of information moving forward.
They made it a point to issue a public apology to Rosa and her family, who may have been distressed by the false news.
Rosal is now 96 years old. She is a popular actress and humanitarian. She had already retired, but before this, she hosted two public service programs and was a recipient of many awards in acting and voluntary services.
She was named FAMAS Best Actress in 1955 for Sonny Boy, and was nominated three other times, for Dagohoy (1953), Biyaya ng Lupa, and Ang Lahat ng Ito Pati na ang Langit (1989).
In 2006, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo conferred upon Rosal the Order of the Golden Heart with the rank of Grand Cross, in recognition of her lifelong public service and contributions to the Red Cross.
