Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Davao Oriental, October 10, 2025
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 7.6 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental today, October 10, 2025. Here are the details.
Following the 4.1 magnitude earthquake in Quezon early today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake recently hit Davao Oriental and it has a magnitude of 7.6.

The earthquake that struck Davao Oriental at 9:43 a.m. today, October 10, 2025, was tectonic in origin. A tectonic quake is a shaking which is a product when the Earth’s crust breaks because of the geological forces on the rocks and the adjoining plates which result to chemical and physical changes.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 7.07°North, 127.06°East off shore Davao Oriental. It had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers. The quake-recording bureau issued a tsunami warning following the quake.
Residents of the coastal areas in Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Surigao del Sur, and nearby provinces are advised to evacuate immediately to higher ground or move farther inland. More updates may be posted soon.
