Man w/ Mental Illness Enters San Beda University, Classes Suspended
Classes at San Beda University were suspended on October 9 after a mentally ill man, entered the school campus.
On Thursday (October 9, 2025), the Manila DRRM Office Facebook page shared a video showing the man climbing around the campus, and climbed trees, railings, and rooftops inside the university. The post quickly went viral on social media and received various reactions from netizens online.
According to the Manila DRRM Office, the same man had been rescued the night before, October 8, after climbing onto the top of the LRT-2 Legarda Station. Despite being assisted then, he was seen again the next morning inside the San Beda campus, displaying similar behavior.
Authorities noted that based on video footage, the man seemed used to such actions, as if he had done them before.
The Bedan, the university’s official student publication, later confirmed that the man had been found and was placed under police custody. No injuries were reported, and classes were temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of everyone inside the school.
Many online users expressed concern for the man’s condition and urged compassion rather than criticism. Others commended the quick response of authorities and campus security in managing the situation.
The video reminds the public of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for proper support systems to help individuals experiencing psychological distress before situations like this happen in the future.
