3 Children Carried Over a Wall to Escape Flood in Bataan

3 Children in Bataan Rescued After Floodwaters Quickly Rose Due to Typhoon Paolo

Three children were carried over a wall to escape the massive flooding in in Barangay Balon Anito, Mariveles, Bataan.

On Friday morning (October 3, 2025), three kids were rescued in Bataan, after floodwaters rapidly rose due to the strong rains and winds brought by Typhoon Paolo.

According to Barangay Councilor Jimel Ocampo, the children, aged 9, 10, and 14, were left at home while their parents went to work. As the floodwater kept rising, Ocampo heard the children crying from their house.

Fearing for their safety, he and neighbors decided to move quickly. They carried the children over a wall and brought them safely into his home, away from the flood.

The flood started around 7:00 in the morning when heavy rains and strong winds battered their area. The nearby river overflowed, causing water to spill into the streets and houses. In some areas, the flood reached up to five feet deep, making it dangerous for residents to move around.

The Mariveles Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) reported that Typhoon Paolo coincided with high tide, which worsened the flooding in low-lying communities.

The barangays of Balon Anito, San Isidro, Ipag, and Camaya were among those heavily affected. By around 4:00 in the afternoon, the waters began to subside, giving residents some relief. Evacuation efforts were also carried out in the barangays of Biaan, Ipag, and Balon Anito, although officials have yet to confirm the number of evacuees.

For families in the affected areas, the experience was a frightening reminder of how quickly disasters can unfold. Residents now hope that recovery efforts will continue smoothly and that they can soon return to normal life after the storm.
