A 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Bogo City, Cebu, has shocked the country. The deadly tremor has left several deaths and destroyed establishments, including old churches and houses.

Based on a previous article, as the search and rescue operations continue, the number of deaths has already reached 73. On Wednesday, army troops, police, and civilian volunteers—assisted by backhoes and sniffer dogs—were deployed to carry out house-to-house searches for survivors. Until today, the rescue operations continue.
After the strong tremor, over 3000 aftershocks have been recorded, and according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), this will continue for several more days.
In response to the recent events, Vice President Sara Duterte showed up for the victims and mobilized relief efforts for the survivors. She also offered prayers, solidarity, and a reminder to keep faith and hope alive.

“Pinapaabot namin yung pakikiramay namin sa mga pamilya nung mga namatayan at pinapaabot rin namin yung aming pagsuporta sa mga apektado noong yung mga nasira ang mga bahay at merong mga nasira at mga kagamitan,” she said in a chance interview, as she personally extended her sympathies to those who suffered losses.
On Thursday, the second-in-command visited the wake of 10 victims of the deadly quake.
According to the videos shared, she visited patients outside a hospital. She also talked with the rescuers, and after witnessing the situation, she underscored the need for power and water supplies. She also noted the significance of providing psychosocial support to the victims.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) will extend assistance to affected residents, including financial aid and both food and non-food relief items.
