Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on PH Gov’t Now
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President spoke on the Philippine government now amid the flood control mess in the country.
Amid the flood control issue in the country, several senators and congressmen are accused of receiving kickback from the flood control projects funded by the government. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had a change of leadership amid the issue.

Sen. Chiz Escudero was ousted and replaced by Senate Pres. Tito Sotto. Escudero admitted to receiving a P30-million campaign donation from one of the contractors flagged by Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Recently, a former undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Roberto Bernardo, accused Escudero of allegedly receiving kickback from the budget insertions. Most of the senators who were previously part of the Majority bloc now belong to the Minority bloc.

Sotto was the Senate Minority Leader before the flood control issue sparked. Aside from Escudero, senators Joel Villanueva and Jinggoy Estrada were also dragged into the flood control mess by former DPWH engineer Roberto Bernardo.

In the House of Representatives, presidential cousin and Leyte Congressman Martin Romualdez resigned from being the House speaker. He and Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co were accused of multi-billion corruption through flood control kickbacks. Aside from Romualdez and Co, Pasig Cong. Roman Romulo, Quezon City Cong. Arjo Atayde, and Marikina Cong. Marcy Teodoro are also accused of allegedly receiving flood control kickback.
Amid the issue, the President ordered the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI). According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, even Cong. Martin Romualdez and his allies will not be spared from the flood control probe.

Today, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte attended the Senate inquiry on the proposed budget of the OVP for 2026 amounting to Php 902.895 million. Based on a report on GMA News, after the Senate panel approved her office’s proposed budget, she was asked by the reporters if she thinks the Philippine government is still stable amid the flood control mess in the country.

“No,” the Vice President said.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the Philippine institutions are allegedly “clearly abused” and they are supposedly utilized for their personal gain. She stressed that several witnesses have already made their testimony about corruption. Based on the report, the Vice President claimed that nothing is allegedly happening in the country.
“Nakailang ulit ko na ‘yan sinasabi noon na tigilan ‘yung pulitika, tigilan ang pag-una ng pansariling interest kasi walang nangyayari sa ating bansa. Meron ba kayong nakikita at all na project na nakatulong sa ating bayan? Wala,” the Vice President said.
During the Senate OVP budget hearing, known Duterte-ally Sen. Bong Go proposed to give some of the budget of his office to the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
