How Mikael Daez Found Light Moments Amid His First Surgery
MIKAEL DAEZ – Actor and TV host Mikael Daez gave fans a glimpse of his resilience, showing how he managed to face surgery, recovery, and fatherhood with humor and positivity.
Mikael Daez recently shared his experience of undergoing surgery for the first time, giving fans a peek into the lighter side of the moment. On his social media, he uploaded clips showing himself under the influence of anesthesia, where he humorously rambled about random topics, including basketball icon Kobe Bryant.
Though the procedure was daunting at first, Mikael managed to face it with humor. The videos showed him exchanging playful jokes with his wife, actress Megan Young — lovingly called Bonez — which turned a tense situation into something more comforting.

Looking back on the experience, Mikael admitted how unusual yet unforgettable it was. “Undergoing a medical operation for the first time was, admittedly a bit scary but I completely forgot that anesthesia can make you quite loopy. I had a 15 minute vlog with Bonez as I rambled on and I don’t remember any of it. Basta, si Kobe Bryant madalas nasa kwento ko daw,” he said.
Thankfully, his recovery has been on track. “As for the operation, recovery has gone quite well. It took 2 weeks before I got my stitches removed and now, it’s all about slowly regaining the ability to walk. Can’t wait to play with Leon since he is starting to crawl and babble,” he added, expressing his excitement to bond more with his wife and their baby son.

In a separate post, Mikael revealed the cause of his injury, which came from a basketball mishap. “A few weeks ago, I ruptured my achilles tendon…possibly the scariest basketball related injury I could imagine. But at this point in my life, I guess we take whatever curveballs life throws at us. My first goal is just to get back to walking normally so I can help Mama Bonez take care of Leon. Then, over the long run, I can re-learn how to run and jump alongside my son. From what I’ve gathered, it’s going to be a very long road to recovery but I’m always up for a challenge. ps, moving around in crutches is tough,” he shared.
Through his honesty and humor, Mikael has shown fans that even intimidating challenges can be faced with optimism and determination.
