Authorities Arrest Man Wearing Police Uniform in Navotas City
A man wearing a police uniform despite not being a PNP member was arrested for illegal possession of firearms
on Sunday morning (September 14, 2025), a 46-year-old man was arrested in Barangay Tanza Uno, Navotas City, after being caught with an unlicensed firearm while wearing a police uniform despite not being a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The arrest happened during a routine patrol when Navotas police officers noticed the man sitting in a narrow alley. He was wearing a police camouflage shirt, usually reserved for mobile force units, paired with shorts.

The unusual outfit immediately raised suspicion. Officers also spotted a visible tattoo on his arm, something rarely displayed by uniformed personnel. When questioned, the man admitted he was not a police officer and offered no explanation as to why he was wearing the uniform or where he had obtained it.
Upon frisking, authorities discovered a firearm in his possession, which turned out to be unlicensed. Investigators later confirmed that the suspect had a criminal history. In 2016, he was jailed for illegal drugs and was released in 2021 after serving his sentence.
Police also found that he has a pending arrest warrant for anti-loitering charges in Malabon. The confiscated gun has been submitted for ballistic testing to determine whether it had been used in any criminal activities.

However, the suspect, refused to issue any statement regarding the incident.
He is now detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and faces multiple charges, including illegal use of police uniform under Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code, as well as violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities reminded the public that wearing police uniforms without proper authority is a serious offense, especially when paired with illegal possession of firearms.
