Man Found Lifeless in Mountain Area After Drinking w/ Neighbor
A 29-year-old man was found dead in a remote mountain area of Barangay San Andres Bundok, Atimonan, Quezon after drinking with his neighbor.
According to police reports, the victim, identified as “Mark,” spent Tuesday night, September 9, 2025, drinking with his neighbor, who is now considered the main suspect, known as “Jay.” The two were reportedly sharing drinks at the suspect’s house when the incident occurred.
Mark’s live-in partner became worried when he did not return home after several hours. She recalled hearing some commotion earlier coming from the neighbor’s house where the two men had been drinking. Concerned for his safety, she sought help from barangay officials.
Police responded to the scene but found no one inside the house. Both the suspect and the victim were missing at that time.
A search operation was immediately launched, and by around 10:00 a.m. the following morning, authorities discovered Mark’s lifeless body in a remote, mountainous part of the barangay.
Initial findings from the Atimonan Police revealed that the victim had a gunshot wound to the face, which is believed to have caused his death. Investigators are still gathering evidence and conducting follow-up inquiries to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crime.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Jay, remains at large and is now the subject of a manhunt. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help locate him.
The neighbors expressed fear and sadness over the violent incident. Authorities are working to ensure justice for the victim and provide closure to his grieving family.
