Authorities Arrest Man Caught Stealing Parked Tricycle in Antipolo
A 29-year-old man was arrested after being caught on CCTV stealing a parked tricycle in Antipolo City, Rizal.
According to Antipolo Police, the incident was caught on CCTV, showing how the suspect carefully planned the theft before taking off with the vehicle.
Around 9:30 a.m. on Monday (September 8, 2025), the 54-year-old owner parked his tricycle along 1st Street Oreta in Barangay San Isidro. Unfortunately, he left the key in the ignition, and no one was watching the vehicle.

CCTV footage revealed that the suspect, wearing a blue top, was seen walking back and forth near the tricycle for several minutes, checking if anyone was around. He then pushed the tricycle a few meters away before finally riding it and driving off, likely to avoid drawing attention.
Mark Henry Garcia said.
When the owner discovered that his tricycle was missing, he immediately sought police assistance. Luckily, a police patrol was nearby and a follow-up operation was quickly launched.
By 9:00 p.m. that same day, authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect at a gas station in the city. The stolen tricycle was recovered at the scene. The suspect claimed that he was only asked by an acquaintance to bring the tricycle there, insisting that it supposedly belonged to that acquaintance.
Police later learned that the suspect, a tricycle driver himself, had previous cases related to illegal gambling and physical injuries.
He is now detained at the Antipolo City Police Station and is facing charges under the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

Authorities reminded the public to be extra careful when leaving their vehicles. They advised parking in well-lit or busy areas, never leaving the keys in the ignition, and using locks or alarms to avoid similar incidents.
