Retired Police Colonel’s Wife Robbed at Parking Lot in Iloilo Mall
ROBBERY INCIDENT – The wife of a retired police colonel was robbed by an armed man in the parking lot of a mall in Iloilo City.
Earlier this week, the wife of retired Police Colonel Cornelio Salinas shared her frightening mall experience after she was held up at gunpoint in a parking lot in Iloilo City. The incident raised concerns about mall security and public safety.
According to reports, Dra. Lulu Salinas was inside the parking area when a man approached her, pointed a gun, and even struck her with the weapon. Shocked and scared, she called out for help, but the mall security guard on duty allegedly failed to act quickly.

Witnesses said the guard appeared calm and did not immediately alert others or call for backup.
Colonel Salinas shared that he was the one who contacted the city police director after receiving a distress call from his wife, who was crying and pleading for help. Thankfully, police officers responded right away, and authorities are now investigating the case to identify and catch the suspect.
The retired police officer expressed gratitude to the Iloilo City police for their swift action but also voiced disappointment at the mall’s security protocols. He urged mall management to review and strengthen their safety measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

He also expressed worry about rising crime in the city, saying that people should feel safe whether they are walking on the streets or shopping at malls.
“We are not safe in the city’s streets. We are not safe in the malls. We are not safe anymore because addicts abound in Iloilo City,” Salinas said.
The incident raises concerns among locals about the need for better-trained security personnel and stricter safety systems in public places. For Dra. Salinas and her family, the experience was both traumatic and eye-opening.
The social media users expressed their reactions to the incident:
