PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Huaning’s Trough and LPA to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area inside PAR turned into Tropical Depression Huaning.

On Monday (August 18, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Huaning’s extension and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression.

PAGASA

Tropical Depression Huaning was last spotted 520 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph, moving 10 kph in a northwestward direction.

Huaning’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan.

“It is moving away from the country, and it will not have a direct effect on our weather today,” Villamil said.

The weather system is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility from Monday evening (August 18) to early Tuesday morning (August 19).

The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Palawan.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of the country.

Fisherfolks are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing into the sea. The coastal water condition over the western section of Luzon will be moderate, while the remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

The weather has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains, according to PAGASA.
