PAGASA Says LPA Outside PAR Strengthens Into Tropical Depression
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the LPA outside PAR has become a tropical depression.
On Saturday (August 2, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA specialist Grace Castañeda reported that low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has intensified into a tropical depression. It is not expected the affect the country.

The tropical depression was last spotted 1,635 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. It packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70, as it moves 25 kph in a northeastward direction.
“It is not expected to enter the PAR, and it will have no impact on any part of the country,” Castañeda said.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes. It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

“Most likely, we will experience light to moderate rainfall. By afternoon and evening, heavy downpours are still possible,” she explained.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
“During severe thunderstorms, moderate to heavy rains are still possible,” she added.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.
The coastal water conditions over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s seaboard.
