TV Printers & More Allegedly Stolen After Couple Breaches Senate Compound
SENATE – Authorities have arrested a live-in couple accused of carrying out a daring theft inside the Senate Compound, with several stolen items later recovered during a police operation.
A pair of live-in partners has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the Senate Compound and stealing several pieces of equipment, according to the Pasay City Police.
Based on the police investigation, the suspects managed to enter the Senate premises and take several technical items belonging to a media outlet operating inside the compound. Among the recovered items were a 50-inch television, two printers, and a mobile phone, all of which were successfully retrieved by authorities during the operation conducted on July 29, 2026.
Police, however, confirmed that not all of the stolen property was recovered. Investigators said the suspects had already sold some of the items taken from the Senate before they were apprehended, making it impossible for authorities to immediately retrieve the remaining stolen equipment.
Authorities also revealed how the suspects allegedly gained access to the highly secured government facility. According to investigators, the couple reportedly cut through a section of the Senate’s perimeter fence using a saw, allowing them to enter the compound unnoticed. They were then able to smuggle several items out of the premises before leaving the area.
The suspects were eventually arrested along Diokno Boulevard following a police operation. Also taken into custody was the father of one of the suspects. Police said he is expected to face an obstruction of justice complaint after allegedly helping the suspects evade arrest.
Investigators disclosed that the operation was made possible through information provided by the suspects’ own neighbor. The concerned resident reportedly alerted authorities regarding the whereabouts and attempted escape of the individuals, enabling police to quickly track them down and carry out the arrest.
The live-in partners are currently under police custody and are facing the appropriate criminal charges in connection with the alleged theft and break-in at the Senate Compound. Authorities continue to investigate the case, including efforts to identify and recover the remaining stolen property that had reportedly been sold before the suspects were captured.
As of this writing, the Senate leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported burglary inside its facility. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses and additional details become available from the authorities.
